The Wilson Global Systems Simulation (WGSS) is one of the premier crisis simulations in the country. Operating as a four-way, interconnected simulation, WGSS provides delegates an opportunity to experience the true, ever-changing nature of international relations. Every action, from a single crisis note to a committee-wide directive, has an inevitable impact on not only the committee’s simulation, but on the whole WGSS. Interactions between states and non-governmental actors do not exist simply between two parties, but between parties with vested interest in the topic, various peoples of different ethnic and religious backgrounds, and the collective community in our globalized world. This ripple effect is what WGSS seeks to emulate; no committee can exist in a true vacuum. 

In the past, WGSS simulations have taken place in a myriad of regions and timelines - focusing on ethnic and religious conflicts, historical wars, and contemporary struggles for international power. This year, the topic will be the death of Joseph Stalin in 1953, and the fallout as the USSR, and an apprehensive world, navigate the succession crisis to end all succession crises. Delegates will be representing one of three power players within the Soviet Union—the Red Army, the Politburo, or the Ministry of State Security—as they try to put one of their own onto the throne. Alternatively, they can participate as a NATO head of state, and try to turn the enemy’s chaos into opportunity…
