United Nations Environment Programme(UNEP)

Founded in 1972, The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is responsible for aiding in the advancement of environmental law, assisting developing nations with environmental policy, and promoting environmental issues. The UNEP address a wide range of issues, including climate change, deforestation, and ecosystem management. Our topics of discussion will be 1) how to solve the problem of depleting oil and natural gas reserves and 2) global threats to marine life.

*Note from the Director General: After great success last year, we are bringing back a Novice GA committee. This committee will have a slightly slower pace to allow our staff to help walk delegates through a Model UN committee. Delegates should still prepare beforehand and understand the basic structure of committee. On your honor, you may only participate in this committee if you are a novice delegate. If a delegate has won an award and/or participated in more than three conferences before, we request they do not be placed in this committee. Failure to do this will be seen as a violation of VAMUN policies and may cause your school to be disqualified from awards. *
