Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM)

The Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM) is a committee that closely examines human rights issues and humanitarian affairs that impact people all over the world. Two important areas of focus in this committee will be on the violations of prisoner’s human rights and illegal adoption and child trafficking. It will be up to delegates to discuss the best ways to address these topics.

Emma neukrug


Emma is a third year student from Norfolk, VA (757!!). She is majoring in Global Studies - Security and Justice and minoring in Statistical Analysis of Social Behavior. She has done Model UN since her freshman year of high school and has vice chaired at VAMUN for her past two years. She is the president of the Roosevelt Society (a nonpartisan political dialogue club) and volunteers doing taxes for people in the Charlottesville community. In her free time, she enjoys watching funny tv shows, going to the beach (when it’s warm enough), and eating delicious food. She is so excited for a great weekend in SOCHUM this year!
