WGSS: Ottoman Empire

Despite a moment of hope after the restoration of the Ottoman Constitution, the empire has been in a state of unrest ever since. Losing territory and political capital left and right, the empire is clearly in a state of decline. Meanwhile, a great conflict is brewing among the Ottoman's European neighbors that the empire may soon be involved in. With decaying strength and resources, the Ottomans must fight hard if they wish to perserve the longevity of the empire.

Jay is a second-year from The Plains, Virginia studying Economics and has been involved in Model UN since 10th grade. He staffed crisis in VAMUN and VICS in his first year with IRO and is excited to be chairing a committee for the first time. Aside from IRO and Model UN, he is a heavy metal drummer, a unicyclist, and a devoted coffee connoisseur. Jay has a great interest in the First World War, and is quaking in anticipation for what delegates can do to change the fate of the Ottoman Empire!

Connor is a Second Year from Bentonville, Arkansas hoping to major in Management at the McIntire School of Commerce with a minor in Business Spanish. Connor was Arkansas's state DECA president in high school and is currently involved with a variety of political, academic, and professional clubs at UVA. Despite his interests in business, Connor most enjoys History and Politics classes - especially those focused around international relations. This will be his first experience as a Crisis Director (for the Ottoman Empire) though he has both crisis staffed and assistant crisis directed for VAMUN and VICS in the past. Outside of committee you can catch Connor reading some David Foster Wallace around grounds trying to look smart.
