No Man's Land: At the Jammu and Kashmir Negotiation Table, 2018

A referendum carried out in blood, the blinding of its own citizens, and  religion based violence; is there no end to the turmoil in Kashmir? It seems like consensus between the two feuding states of India and Pakistan was once a long sought dream. However, for them to meet at the negotiation table? Perhaps the dream does have a hint of reality to it. A committee tailored for the experienced delegate, delve into the a holistic simulation of the Kashmir crisis as you engage in high pressure debate to solve one of the most conflicting issues of our times. Expect the unexpected and careful with those crisis arcs, you may be your own worst enemy.

 Devansh Agarwal is currently a third year, hailing from Kolkata, India. He is currently in the College of Arts and Sciences pursuing a double major in economics and politics. Having been involved with Model UN and Debate throughout High School, Devansh decided to carry on his interests while at college through the IRO. This will be his third year chairing for VICS. In the past Devansh has been Secretary General for his own High School’s conference and head delegate for the UVA Model UN Team. He looks forward to meeting all of you!

 Vinuthna is a third year from Yorktown, Virginia studying Foreign Affairs and (possibly) Psychology in the College of Arts and Science. Vinuthna participated in MUN throughout high school, and was also a member of her secretariat. At UVA, she has served as an Assistant Crisis Director for VAMUN, as well as a Vice Chair for VICS. This will be her second year as a member of IRO at UVA. She is excited for committee and looks forward to meeting everyone!
